چکیده

The objective of this study was to compare periparturient serum Ca dynamics (CaDyn) in cows with and without diseases early lactation. enrolled 1,949 from a commercial dairy farm northern Germany. Blood samples were drawn 7 d before expected calving date on 0, 1, 3, after analyzed for concentration. Cows monitored clinical hypocalcemia (CH), ketosis, left displaced abomasum (LDA), retained placenta, acute puerperal metritis (APM), mastitis, pneumonia. To evaluate the association between CaDyn during transition period, repeated measures ANOVA first-order autoregressive covariance performed. Serum healthy (i.e., any aforementioned diseases) compared one (CH, APM, LDA, pneumonia), multiple (CH+, ketosis+, APM+, mastitis+, LDA+, pneumonia+). Separate models built primiparous multiparous cows. For cows, we evaluated ketosis (healthy vs. ketosis+) APM APM+). same Three additional CH CH+), mastitis mastitis+), or LDA LDA+). In concentrations APM+ significantly reduced 3 calving, ketosis+ but not calving. Multiparous had On 7, concentration CH+ 1 increased 0 Whereas mastitis+ Overall, LDA+ concentrations. Especially delayed onset (d 7) indicative development disease associated occurrence diseases. Future studies should whether are cause concomitant circumstance

Postpartum uterine diseases in dairy cows

Uterine diseases in dairy cows can be classified as puerperal metritis, clinical metritis, clinical endometritis, and subclinical endometritis. These diseases are highly prevalent (affect between 20 and 30% of dairy cows) in high producing dairy cows and have been associated with decreased pregnancy per artificial insemination (AI), extended interval to pregnancy, increased culling, and economi...

Immunosuppression – Postpartum Diseases of Dairy Cows

Periparturient period in dairy cows is accompanied by numerous physiological, metabolic and nutritive changes. The way in which they occur and develop have a great influence on lactation performances, subclinical and clinical postparturient diseases and reproductive disorders, thus affecting the profitability as well. During periparturient period dairy cows may subject to the immune system func...

Association between somatic cell count after first parturition and cumulative milk yield in dairy cows

The aim was to assess the association between the somatic cell count of parity 1 cows between 5 and 30 days in milk (SCC1), and subsequent cumulative milk yield over approximately two years for cows in English and Welsh dairy herds. The dataset included records from 43,461 cows in 2111 herds, from 2004 to 2006. Cumulative milk yield was the model outcome, and a random effect was included to acc...

Lymphocyte functions in overconditioned cows around parturition.

The objective of the study was to evaluate the relationships between body condition and lymphocyte functions in periparturient dairy cows. Thirty days before expected calving, 21 Holstein cows were categorized as thin (n = 6), medium (n = 8), or overconditioned (n = 7) based on body condition score (BCS). Blood samples were collected on 21, 14, 7, and 3 d before calving and on d 3, 7, 14, 21, 2...

Plasma fluctuation in estradiol-17β and bone resorption markers around parturition in dairy cows

Blood samples were obtained sequentially from 10 dairy cows around the time of parturition to assess plasma fluctuations in estradiol-17β (E2) levels in association with those of several bone resorption markers. Plasma E2 concentration increased sharply a few days prepartum and decreased quickly after parturition. In terms of bone resorption markers, the plasma level of tartrate-resistant acid ...
